Beautifully illustrated with the gifted colors of Mother Earth, introduce little ones to the hardship and tireless days of a farm worker – in English and Spanish! Where the fields meet the horizon, our harvesters gather the crops that fill our bellies, from sunrise to sunset. Told from the perspective of a proud son, this heartfelt and beautifully illustrated story illuminates the sacrifice and hardship that one father endures for his family. Parents will adore this bilingual English-Spanish hardcover as it gives color and abundance to the natural world that farm workers cultivate every day and how their sacrifices go beyond the fields and towards their children's futures.

  • J. Roman Perez Varela was born and raised in the city of Salinas, California. As a first-generation Mexican American and a migrant student, he realized early in his childhood that he had two choices in life: either to work hard in school or work hard picking crops. He did both in order to survive, and it allowed him to better understand the important role his father, a campesino. Roman hopes one day his children can understand the sacrifices many have experienced in order for them to live the life they live.
