The origins of the tarot have been traced by some authorities as far back as pharaonic Egypt. The earliest deck that is known today was executed for the ducal house of Milan in 1428 to celebrate the marriage of Branca-Maria Visconti and Francesco Sforza.
Many of the cards from that hand-painted deck are among the exquisite reproductions in the Tarot. Monique Mireille Georgette Rachet, the future Sylvie Simon, was born on October 26, 1927 in Narbonne. His entourage, the Rachet family, was well established in this city, having built, in 1923, a cultural space (cinema, theatre, music hall). She is the sister of the writer Guy Rachet.
She took the name Sylvie Simon-Sonrel, known as Sylvie Simon, after her marriage to Éric Simon-SonrelNote, film set designer known as Éric Simon.
Sylvie Simon was first a model for fashion photographers or for advertisements, then obtained a few small roles in the cinema, before becoming an antique dealer.
She began her writing work in 1982, with the publication of a first book on the tarot, followed by other works related to esotericism, as well as three historical narratives.
