A great recording of Bernstein's greatest work. I thoroughly appreciated it. Te Kanawa's glorious soprano voice fits perfectly, and her accent imitation and diction is perfect. Carreras' obviously struggles with the diction, and his voice is not totally right for the part. However, he still sings his parts reasonably well, and does blend nicely with Kiri Te Kanawa. Tatiana Troyanos sounds pretty terrible. She slurs and slides her way around, and sounds generally half out of whack with the rest of the cast. However, all round, it's a good, worth while CD , with the ensemble doing a great job. Basically only a four star because of Te Kanawa's great work as Maria.
